An ASX listed operating miner engaged Iron Cove Global to execute recruiting services for several critical leadership positions on its newly acquired underground mine. Post-acquisition, the business had placed numerous consultants & contracting professionals into several leadership positions whilst the organisation embedded the new asset into its group operating framework. During this time, the business also migrated the site from owner to contractor execution for production and development mining activities. Iron Cove Global liaised with numerous stakeholders across the group during the recruiting stages. Pending on which role was being addressed at the time, main hiring stakeholders included the CEO, CFO, EA and GM Operations.
The client engaged ICG on a retained basis to deliver an executive search assignment. This involved scanning of the entire Australian mining industry to identify every General Manager of whom was currently or recently had worked at a relevant underground metals operation. A comprehensive report and candidate longlist (120 options) was returned to the CEO, after which he collaborated with ICG to outline the potentials and target candidates to pursue. The final selected candidate held 10+ years of experience as a General Manager in Australia and was headhunted from a well-known underground metals operation in QLD.
Reporting to the General Manager Operations, the position is tasked with managing technical governance and mining contractor activities, to ensure optimal extraction of ore in compliance with Mines Regulations, Australian Standards and company policies and procedures. ICG located the successful candidate from an operating mine in WA. The candidate was already known to ICG and held over 30 years of career experience in technical, operations and senior management positions around Australia.
Reporting to the General Manager Operations, the position is tasked with managing processing plant operations, the achievement of safe production and effective liaison between metallurgy and maintenance teams to achieve optimum performance of the processing plant. ICG located the candidate from an operating mine in QLD. The candidate was known to ICG due to being placed at an alternate mine by the Director seven years earlier. The successful candidate holds 12 years of progressive experience on well-regarded Australian gold and base metals operations.
Reporting to the General Manager Operations, the position is tasked with supporting, optimizing and coordinating site commercial activities in an outcome-driven and cost-effective manner. ICG located the candidate from an operating coal mining business in Mongolia. The candidate was Sydney based and had been seeking an opportunity to return to an Australian role. The placed candidate holds roughly 20+ year’s experience in mining & commercial activities on Australian and international projects.
