About the Company Our client is a TSXV-listed precious and base metals developer, advancing a world-class underground mining project in Latin America. With an experienced management team and a strong focus on sustainable, technically rigorous project execution, the company is entering a pivotal development phase and seeks a senior technical leader to drive the next stage of mine planning and project advancement.
Position Overview The VP Technical Services will lead all aspects of technical planning, studies, and project development for the company’s flagship underground mine. The role will provide strategic oversight of mine engineering, planning, design and execution readiness. The successful candidate will manage multidisciplinary site-based technical teams and play a key role in advancing new orebody systems within the broader deposit.
This is a senior leadership role requiring a blend of technical capacity, operational experience and strong stakeholder management skills. Fluency in Spanish (spoken, read, and written) is essential.
Key Responsibilities - Lead and manage all technical services functions, including mine planning, design, scheduling, geotechnical, ventilation and survey disciplines.
- Oversee and guide mine studies and ensure alignment with corporate development and financing milestones.
- Direct the development of new orebody system understanding, optimising extraction strategies, stope sequencing and resource-to-reserve conversion.
- Ensure robust Deswik-based mine planning, scheduling, and design systems are in place, integrated, and used effectively by site teams.
- Manage and mentor a team of mining engineers and technical professionals, promoting excellence and capability development.
- Collaborate closely with geology, operations, and project development teams to ensure alignment of short- and long-term mine plans.
- Provide technical input and assurance across capital project planning, mine infrastructure and cost estimation activities.
- Support project execution readiness, operational ramp-up planning and technical risk management.
- Maintain high standards of safety, environmental compliance and social responsibility across all technical functions.
Required Qualifications and Experience - Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in underground mining operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or technical management role.
- Proven experience in Deswik mine planning software (highly regarded).
- Strong background in technical study management and mine design for complex underground deposits.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams in Latin America or similar jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated ability to bridge technical planning with strategic and commercial project objectives.
- Fluent in Spanish and English, with strong communication and reporting skills in both languages.
