VP Exploration - South America

Iron Cove Global is currently supporting a well-capitalised, Canadian listed copper-gold explorer/developer with the appointment of a VP Exploration for its flagship project in Latin America. With funding secured for a large, multi-rig drilling programme, this is an exciting opportunity to join the business at a pivotal stage of ongoing discovery and project growth.

The Role
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, you will own exploration strategy and execution of the project:
  • Target generation, ranking and drill prioritisation across a district-scale land package
  • Direct, hands-on interrogation of all exploration datasets — geochemistry, geophysics, structural, drilling
  • Leadership of a geological team of approximately ten, plus in-country technical teams and external consultants
  • Programme oversight: QA/QC, data management, safety performance and delivery against planned metres
  • Exploration budgeting and cost-per-metre discipline
  • Board and investor reporting, including presentation material and exploration results releases
The Criteria
  • Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or a related discipline
  • 15+ years in mineral exploration, with genuine involvement in porphyry copper-gold discipline
  • Personal, working fluency in QGIS and either Leapfrog or Micromine. 
  • Demonstrated ownership of target generation and drill programme design, not just execution
  • Track record leading and building geological teams in remote, high-tempo environments
  • Board and investor-facing communication skills
  • Spanish is a strong advantage but is not a requirement
The Commitment
You can be based anywhere in the world. Approximately 50% of your working time will be spent in the field in South America, with the remainder of working time from home location.
