Company Overview:
Our client, an ASX-listed metals producer advancing an underground project in Australia is currently searching for a UG Mining Manager. With underground development commencing and a mining contractor being mobilised, the company is entering a pivotal phase, transitioning from open pit to underground mining. To support this next stage, the company is seeking an experienced UG Mining Manager to lead the operational ramp-up.
  
Position Summary:
The UG Mining Manager will be responsible for the safe, compliant and cost-effective delivery of all underground mining activities, including oversight of the appointed mining contractor. The role requires a hands-on leader with proven underground operations experience, capable of building operational systems, embedding safety culture, overseeing contractor performance and delivering production in accordance with schedule and budget.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the transition from open pit to underground mining.
  • Oversee mobilisation and onboarding of the underground mining contractor, ensuring alignment with owner standards, KPIs and reporting frameworks.
  • Ensure mining activities are aligned with the life-of-mine plan and production schedule.
  • Monitor and drive productivity, cost, safety and QA/QC outcomes against business KPIs.
  • Ensure alignment between contractor execution and owner strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate closely with processing, maintenance and planning functions.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements
  • Manage underground operating costs within budget parameters.
  • Promote a high-performance, accountable and safety-driven culture.
  Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years’ underground mining experience, including senior leadership exposure.
  • Prior management experience in underground metalliferous operations
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanised hard rock mining methods
  • High-level commercial and cost management capability.
  • Strategic thinker with strong operational detail orientation.
