About the Company:
Our client is an ASX-listed Australian metals producer with a well-established operation in Tasmania. To support the site’s continued growth and improvement, they are seeking an experienced and proactive HSE Superintendent to take on a key leadership role, driving health, safety, and environmental performance across the operation.

Position Overview:
The HSE Superintendent is responsible for leading the health, safety and environmental performance of the mine site, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, standards and company policies. This role will be instrumental in embedding a proactive safety culture, managing risk and ensuring that environmental obligations maintained. The Superintendent will provide visible and strategic leadership to drive continuous improvement in HSE performance across site operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the site HSE team, providing direction, development and performance management.
  • Oversee the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of HSE Management Systems in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture through visible leadership, coaching and engagement with all levels of the workforce.
  • Coordinate risk assessments, incident investigations, audits and inspections across the site, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Ensure compliance with Tasmanian mining safety and environmental legislation, including reporting obligations to regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain and improve emergency response procedures and site preparedness, including training coordination and drills.
  • Develop and report HSE performance metrics to site and corporate leadership teams.
  • Act as the site liaison with stakeholders and regulatory bodies in relation to HSE matters.
  • Drive initiatives to improve workforce health, mental wellbeing and occupational hygiene across site.
Key Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of HSE experience in mining or heavy industry, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent-level role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian WHS and environmental legislation applicable to mining.
  • Proven ability to lead HSE teams and influence safety culture across diverse workgroups.
  • Proficient in HSE management systems and data reporting tools.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
