About the Company:
Our client is a growth-focused ASX-listed metals producer committed to sustainable and responsible mining. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced operations leader to join as GM Operations to lead their flagship metals operation.
  
Position Overview:
The General Manager Operations will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations. This role requires a strategic and hands-on leader with extensive experience in underground mining, who can drive operational excellence, ensure safety compliance, and optimise production processes. The General Manager Operations will play a pivotal role in achieving operational objectives and supporting the transition from open pit to underground mining in the periods ahead.
  
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for mining operations, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement detailed operating and mine plans to meet Life of Mine (LOM) objectives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage production activities to achieve targets for output, quality, quantity, cost, and time.
  • Ensure all operations comply with relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the site.
  • Monitor production output and costs, adjusting processes and resources as needed to optimise efficiency and minimise costs.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the technical staff and operations teams, promoting a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Maintain effective communication with executives and board, providing regular updates on operational performance, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with mining regulations and liaise with government agencies for mining approvals and inspections.
  • Prepare and control periodic (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual) production records and reports.
  • Monitor operational performance against targets and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Tertiary University Degree in Mining Engineering Discipline.
  • First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in managing underground hard rock operations.
  • Proven commitment to and demonstrated history of leading a workplace safety culture in an underground mining environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in directing technical teams and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Excellent strategic planning and organisational abilities, with a focus on optimising production processes and achieving operational objectives.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management and cost control.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
